microsoft 365 connector

connect tack to outlook and teams — your notifications, finally under control

what you'll get

when you connect microsoft 365, tack pulls in your work notifications and helps you triage them into now, next break, and tomorrow morning.

  • outlook emails — we sync your inbox and let you mark messages as done, archive, or open them right from tack
  • teams chats — direct messages and channel mentions, all in one place
  • calendar awareness — tack knows when you're busy and holds non-urgent notifications
  • presence detection — when you're in a teams call or set to do not disturb, tack respects that

how to connect

step 1: sign in with microsoft

head to tack and click “sign in with microsoft”. use your work or school email — the one you use for outlook and teams.

step 2: choose what to connect

you'll see a permissions screen. pick what you want tack to access:

  • email & calendar — sync outlook messages and see when you're in meetings
  • teams messages — pull in chats, mentions, and channel updates
  • presence & calls — know when you're on a call so tack can hold notifications

you can always change these later in settings.

step 3: approve access

microsoft will ask you to confirm. click accept and you're done. tack will start syncing your notifications right away.

what these permissions actually do

read and write email

tack reads your outlook messages to show them in your triage view. when you mark something done or archive it, tack updates the message in outlook so everything stays in sync.

read calendar

tack checks your calendar to see when you're in meetings. this way it can hold non-urgent stuff until you're free. we never modify your calendar — just read it.

read teams messages

tack pulls in your teams chats and mentions so you can triage them alongside email. we don't send messages on your behalf — just read them.

read presence

tack checks if you're in a call or marked as busy. when you are, it holds notifications until you're available again. urgent stuff still breaks through.

if your organization requires admin approval

some companies lock down which apps can access microsoft 365. if you see “admin approval required” when trying to connect, here's what to do:

  1. contact your IT admin and ask them to approve tack
  2. share this guide with them so they know what permissions tack needs
  3. once they approve it, come back and sign in — you'll be connected

troubleshooting

messages not showing up?

  • check that you granted email & calendar permissions
  • try signing out and back in
  • wait a few minutes — the first sync can take a bit

can't mark messages as done?

make sure you granted write email permission. if you didn't, head to settings and re-grant permissions.

teams messages missing?

confirm you granted teams messages permission. also check that your organization allows third-party apps to access teams.

🔒 your data is encrypted

tack encrypts your messages with your personal encryption key. only you can decrypt them — even tack admins can't read your stuff. learn more in our security whitepaper.
