Common questions

How does Tack decide what's urgent?

Tack uses AI tools to prioritise "what looks urgent" based on the instructions you give it. Tack does not train on your messages; it looks at who's messaging you, what they're saying, and your current priorities. As you adjust your priorities, Tack gets better at knowing when to interrupt and when to wait—so you can trust it to protect your focus without missing what's truly important.

Do you store my messages?

No. We read them to create a summary, then immediately delete the original content. Only the summary and basic metadata (like who sent it and when) are kept—just enough to show you what needs attention.

When you mark something done, even that summary is removed on the next sync. Your source messages stay in Outlook, Teams, or Slack where they belong.

Is my data safe?

Your message content is encrypted before processing. We use AI providers with zero-retention policies, meaning they don't keep copies of your data after processing.

Tack only stores summaries and metadata—never the full message body. Learn more about our security practices →

Do I need IT approval to use Tack?

Most users can connect without IT approval. Tack uses standard OAuth permissions, just like other productivity tools. Some organizations have policies requiring approval for any third-party app—but that's uncommon. If you're unsure, check with your IT team or review our security documentation.

What is "Tack That"?

It's a 30-second recall feature for meetings. The Windows app continuously buffers the last 30 seconds of audio locally on your computer—nothing is uploaded unless you press the button.

When someone assigns you a task mid-meeting, hit "Tack That" to capture it. Tack extracts the task, adds it to your list, then deletes the audio. No recordings are kept—just the task itself.

Perfect for staying present in conversations without scrambling to write things down.

Can I use Tack without AI?

No. Tack's entire purpose is intelligent filtering—without AI, it's just another inbox. We've built it to work with you, not replace your judgment - so you can focus on what matters while staying confident nothing urgent slips through.
