everything tack can do to protect your attention

smart triage

tack automatically sorts your notifications into three buckets based on what's actually urgent:

⚡ now (urgent)

messages that need your attention right away. tack looks for:

  • messages marked as high importance
  • direct mentions (@you) in teams
  • emails from your manager or key people
  • time-sensitive keywords like “urgent”, “asap”, “today”
  • calendar invites happening soon

☕ next break

messages that can wait until your next break:

  • updates from team channels
  • threads you're cc'd on
  • fyi messages and newsletters
  • anything that doesn't require immediate action

check this bucket between meetings. batch processing saves you from constant context switching.

🌅 tomorrow morning

messages that can wait until tomorrow:

  • planning and strategy discussions
  • long-term project updates
  • reading materials and articles
  • anything that arrived late in the day

review this bucket each morning as part of your planning routine.

quick actions

every notification card has fast actions so you can respond without leaving tack:

mark done

you've handled it. removes the message from your triage view. the message stays in outlook/teams but tack won't show it again.

archive

sends the message to your outlook archive folder. use this for emails you might need to reference later but don't need in your inbox.

mark as read

acknowledges the message without taking further action. useful for fyi messages or when you've handled something outside of tack.

open in app

deep links to the message in outlook or teams. use this when you need to write a long reply or access attachments.

move between buckets

drag or click to move messages between now, next break, and tomorrow morning. tack learns from your choices to improve future triage.

daily briefing

every morning, tack shows you a summary of what's in your tomorrow morning bucket:

  • review messages that arrived late yesterday or over the weekend
  • prioritize what needs attention today vs. later this week
  • clear out your tomorrow morning bucket to start fresh
  • set your intentions for the day with a calm overview

the briefing is a calm morning ritual — no rush, no panic, just thoughtful planning.

intent classification

tack understands what each message is asking for:

action required

messages asking you to do something — respond, approve, review, schedule, etc.

information

fyi messages, updates, and status reports. no action needed, just awareness.

question

someone needs your input or expertise. usually requires a thoughtful response.

discussion

back-and-forth conversations. may or may not need immediate response.

you can filter by intent to focus on specific types of messages.

supported message sources

📧 outlook email

all your work emails. tack can read, mark as read, archive, and deep link back to outlook.

💬 teams chats

one-on-one and group chats where you're mentioned or directly messaged.

📢 teams channels

channel mentions and replies in teams. you can mark them as read from tack.

future releases will add gmail, slack, and other sources. see the roadmap for what's coming.

context awareness

tack knows when you're busy and adjusts notifications:

calendar integration

tack checks your calendar to see when you're in meetings. non-urgent notifications are held until you're free.

teams presence

when you're in a teams call or marked as “do not disturb”, tack respects that and holds notifications.

focus time

if you block focus time on your calendar, tack treats it like a meeting and holds non-urgent messages.

urgent messages still break through — tack won't hide something critical just because you're busy.

learning & personalization

tack learns from your behavior to get smarter over time:

  • sender priority: if you always mark someone's messages as urgent, tack learns they're important to you
  • keyword patterns: words and phrases you consistently respond to quickly get higher priority
  • time patterns: tack learns when you typically check different types of messages
  • manual corrections: when you move messages between buckets, tack adjusts its classification

all learning happens for your account only. tack never shares your patterns with other users.

🔒 privacy built in

all message content is encrypted with your personal encryption key. tack admins can't access your messages. once you mark a message as done or archived, tack removes the content from our servers.
